Roman Selsky (1903, Lviv region - 1990, Lviv) was a central figure of high modernism in Ukraine, the founder of the modern Lviv school of painting. He worked in the fields of easel and graphic art. His artistic style reflects the entire evolution of European modernism: from impressionism to abstraction.
1960-ті у творчості Романа Сельського період розвитку “українського колоризму”. У цей час художник часто їздить в Карпати на пленери, улюбленим місцем була Дземборня. Серед домінантних тем художника: хащі карпатського лісу, пні та “вориння” (дерев’яні загорожі). Художник милується красою українських ландшафтів, експериментує з кольором, що стає основним художнім засобом, підпорядковуючи собі лінію, пляму, ритми.
