Harvesting the Crops

Description

Roman Selsky is a central figure of high modernism in Ukraine and the founder of the modern Lviv school of painting. He worked in the fields of easel and graphic art. The author's artistic style reflects the entire evolution of European modernism, from impressionism to abstraction.

Roman Selsky was pressured by Soviet ideology to turn to the uncharacteristic scene of collective farm labor. In his work "Harvesting the Crops," the artist adheres to the correct construction of perspective and realistic interpretation of objects and figures. But despite this, he does not lose his characteristic colorism, boldly combines contrasting yellow, orange, and blue colors, and gives the work an emotional sound.
