Sugar Mountain

Description

Roman Selsky is a central figure of high modernism in Ukraine and the founder of the modern Lviv school of painting. He worked in the fields of easel and graphic art. The author's artistic style reflects the entire evolution of European modernism, from impressionism to abstraction.

The 1960s were the heyday of Roman Selsky after a long period of creative stagnation. After a period of realism, the artist returns to a simplified decorative style and fully reveals his talent as a colorist. Looking up to the aesthetics of the Futurists, he decomposes natural objects into abstract elements and builds a composition on the harmony of colors and plastic rhythms.
