Roman Selsky is a central figure of high modernism in Ukraine and the founder of the modern Lviv school of painting. He worked in the fields of easel and graphic art. The author's artistic style reflects the entire evolution of European modernism, from impressionism to abstraction.
In the 1940s, Roman Selskyi often left Lviv to explore the suburbs, conveying his impressions of various landscapes. Like the Impressionists, the artist works with short, densely applied strokes, models the form only with the help of color, and studies light effects. The artist captures an instant impression on the canvas, looking for harmony between man and nature.
