Forest Edge in the Mountains

Description

Roman Selsky is a central figure of high modernism in Ukraine and the founder of the modern Lviv school of painting. He worked in the fields of easel and graphic art. The author's artistic style reflects the entire evolution of European modernism, from impressionism to abstraction.

The image of the Carpathians evoked a deep spiritual connection for Roman Selsky. The artist often interpreted the image as a reflection of his psychological state. In the work "Forest Edge in the Mountains," a broken tree and branches covering the panorama behind come to the fore. Metaphorically, the artist conveys personal experiences and fears deeply hidden inside his lyrical nature.
